The School is administered
by the school's foudner, Donata
Kalunga, who liaises with the Ministry
of Education and local
government.
Within the Zambian education
system, ‘community
schools’ are run
by the community where
there is no available
government school due
to distance or remoteness.
Donata School falls under
this label as it specifically
caters for disabled children
in Mkushi. It is run on
a voluntary basis with
no school fees, and limited
government help.
The administrator, teachers,
cook and other general
helpers work as volunteers
however they do receive
an allowance in cash or
food to assist them.
Adrienne Hunt funds the school
activities as well as
further education for
children and teachers,
mobility aids and health
care.
School costs cover rent,
materials for building
projects, food, books
and stationary and allowances
for the teachers and administrator.
