Build IT International, a not-for-profit organisation which assists local communities in Africa to deliver essential, low-cost community buildings, is working with Donata school to provde a new, purpose-designed school!

We are very thankful as we are being forced to move from our rented premises.

Build IT has four projects in Zambia this year and has hired architect Nichola Phiri to develop the design with help from Donata and some of the children - see Donata School.

Also Donata School is seeking funds to put in a borehole. Water will be essential for the building project and later on for the school. We need $2500 and have already collected over $1000. We've also had a site divined where the water source is good.

Sign language course improves life for our deaf children. A three month sign language course was run through May, June and July 2006. As well as the children, 33 adults attended including the school’s teachers, parents, local business people, and staff from other schools who wanted to learn sign language.

We would like to continue sponsoring other children for onward schooling at Da Gama Catholic School for disabled children in Luanshya. Our one student there Bernadett is getting on very well. Sponsorship is around US$250/ year for each child.

Children who have attended our school in the past, but whose parents have now sent them to the Government school return to play with their friends. They obviously feel happy and safe here.
